About Us

In 2010, in a small coffee shop on the Independence Missouri Square, two best friends scribbled the ideas for a new business concept on legal pads. A preposterous idea to create coffee table style books based upon research on historic aged properties. The pens continued to jot even more ideas to promote and provide education on historic preservation.

In the beginning, much of P2P’s work was researching, writing and marketing historic aged properties for sale.  The company quickly found itself becoming a part of the community through volunteer work and speaking opportunities as well as becoming highly involved in Preservation Tax Credit advocacy.  Their fun, out of the box ideas and education through social media resulted in Past to Present receiving the 2012 City of Independence Hickman Preservation Award.

Past to Present began in 2010.  Today Past to Present continues to research, assist in the promotion of historic aged property ownership, and educate the public on the topic of Historic Preservation as well as long term sustainability for Historic Down Towns. Past to Present offers full history reports on properties to include ownership overview, information regarding some owners, architectural description of home/building, historic preservation tips and photographs & news articles when available.

Past to Present’s owners, writers and researchers encourage you to join your local historical society and preservation advocacy groups/organizations.  Here are a few that Past to Present’s owners hold membership:
